Day 13: Music as Meditation

Welcome to day 13... today we're going to explore using music as meditation.

Music is healing, so using it as a part of a mindful meditation practice completely makes sense. While relaxation is a known benefit of meditation, calming the mind (mindfulness) and gaining insight is equally important. And listening to music can definitely help. It's not necessary to listen to one specific type in order to zen out and obtain bliss. However, in my opinion, words have power. So, I typically prefer to listen to meditative music that doesn't have them. That's just me.

As with everything else we've discussed on this wellness journey, you've definitely got to do what's comfortable for you. Per usual, I have included some suggested tools that I've personally used and found helpful. I hope you try them and that they can bring you some meditative zen too. The first two YTs are set to binaural beats and isochronic tones, which is basically an auditory power boost for your brain as eloquently explained here:

"Binaural beats are a scientifically proven brain entrainment process that slowly started to gain recognition after an article called, Auditory Beats in the Brain, by Dr Gerald Oster, was published in the October 1973 edition of Scientific America.

Binaural beats in the Alpha, Theta and Delta range provide a continuous relaxed input and promote healthy rewiring through its audio neurological signal calculation. These new audio experiences in the brain trigger a burst of new connections between neurons. With repetition, these new neural pathways become fit, just like going to a gym, and it is the fittest connections in our brains that survive. The binaural beat process is faster, easier and more than just meditation. After several weeks of repeated listening the brain becomes more synchronised and starts to form permanent relaxed memories in both hemispheres."

Give them a try for yourself. For best results, use headphones.

Get your spa-like zen on to this full chakra healing beat. It's 3 hours long.

Need to activate more love in your life? Get tuned in to the love frequency of 528 Hz. of Solfeggio.

Full download available here.

Disclaimer: The playlist above has *gasp* WORDS! The Activation Soundtrack as a whole is actually more akin to affirmations set to real sick beats, which is what I luuuuv. Unlike a guided meditation, which should NOT be listened to while driving or operating heavy machinery, this soundtrack is one you can play at the gym or just get in your car and ride to. Activate #Hiipower. Yeah, baby!
