Today we get to talk about sleep, one of my favorite past times! I am definitely one of those sleep 7-9 hours type. I believe in the power of a good night's rest. Sleep can be exquisitely enhanced by when it's predicated by meditation.
A good slumber is a great way to reset your mind and mood. If you cannot sleep, drink some tea then meditate. If you cannot meditate, drink some tea and sleep. To me, some of the deepest, most rewarding shut-eye occurs when I've drifted off after meditating or yoga relaxation (savasana). Sooo delicious.
Some people don't think that meditation and yoga savasana (the time you spend in deep relaxation at the end of each practice lying down in stillness) is the same. But, I find the easiest, fastest way to for me to quiet my mind and suspend thought activity is at the end of my yoga practice. It was pleasantly surprising to me that meditation and savasana feel delightfully the same. In either case, I often find that a soothing cup of herbal, non-caffeinated tea is the perfect way to prepare myself for both.
