Did you know pomegranates carry more antioxidants than green tea? They also make a great exfoliator - check out this DIY pomegranate scrub recipe!

Calling all mixtresses, all hail the DIY Shealoe mix found on UBB. It is the truth. If you are looking for light hold + superior shine without excessive oiliness, this concoction is definitely worth a try. As the recipe states, you can add other ingredients (I used 1 tablespoon of EVOO & Coconut oil instead of just the EVOO alone). I can usually go a week with adequate curls (some limp & some frizz at the end of the day, but overall acceptable). This stuff, however has kept my hair looking 1st-2nd day fresh. I could easily go 2 weeks without washing it if I were inclined. The shealoe has been an amazing sealant when I re-twist at night. Most nights I don’t even have to refresh my hair with my Giovanni’s, water and glycerine mix. The only reason I do is because, as you all probably already know, water is the best moisturizer.

So, check it out and let me know what you think.

Recipe via UBB

How to make Shealoe Butter:
(feel free to play around with measurements and other oils)
½ cup shea butter
¼ cup aloe vera gel or aloe vera juice
2 tablespoons of coconut oil or evoo (coconut oil is recommended to make the mixture less greasy)
3-5 drops of tea tree oil (Acts as a preservative to prevent mold)
1 teaspoon of honey (preservative)
A few drops of Vitamin E oil (optional, use as preservative)

Stove Top Directions:
You can create a double boiler by placing a glass bowl over a small pot of boiling water. Do not let the bowl tip into the water. Add shea butter, coconut oil to glass bowl, and allow to melt. Add honey while oils are hot. Stir gently. Remove glass bowl from heat and place on a surface for mixing. Add aloe vera gel to warm oil and mix using a hand mixer. Add other oils after mixture has cooled down for about 30 minutes. Place mixture in an air tight container. Place in the refrigerator only for a few hours so it can set and then take it out and place in a cool, dry area.
