So... what’s the deal with NLP?

In the book NLP: The New Technology of Achievement, the authors describe NLP as “The study of human excellence.”
So, if Aristotle’s words, ““We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit,” are true… then NLP is the real life cheat code that reveals the tested & proven habits and ways of thinking of great achievers in a way that’s accessible and completely applicable to your life.

Ok, so how does NLP work?
NLP consists of hundreds of techniques that help you accomplish SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timed) goals and get results. Some of the foundational ones that trained practitioners, like myself, use include Time Techniques, EFT Tapping and Clinical Hypnotherapy to name a few.

Ok, so what is EFT Tapping?
Have you ever had a negative thought or nagging feeling that you just couldn’t shake off? A few rounds of EFT tapping can knock that right out. Emotional Freedom Techniques are loosely based on acupuncture or acupressure, because it uses the same energy meridians, or points on the body, to move stuck energy, emotions and physical discomfort. EFT is used to restore balance to the system of the body to it’s factory default setting. And, the best part is that you can do it at your desk, on your flight, stuck in traffic, pretty much anywhere.
And, TIME Techniques?
TIME, or Time Integration for Maximum Empowerment is a set of techniques from NLP that are used to eliminate problems rooted in the past or future; undo limiting decisions, which are the root cause of a stubborn belief; release negative emotions; and re-program your subconscious mind for future success. For example, once we pinpoint the reason and locate point where the habit of being self-critical began in our life, we can revisit and neutralize its original cause (in a loving, self-compassionate way, of course).
Alright, now what about hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is relaxation, plus focused attention to speak to your subconscious mind—that is the part of your brain that’s responsible for your automatic thoughts and behaviors, like whether or not you will procrastinate or take action. The body is much like a robot and your mind has the programming that runs the show. That’s why hypnosis is a powerful tool you can use to program your mind for more success, love, confidence—whatever you need! Give up what’s been weighing you down
In a short time, NLP can and will ultimately lead to personal success in your life. But, beyond it’s reputation as a tool that everyday, exceptional people can use to easily model the ways great achievers use their brain to get results—NLP allows you to release the discomfort of heavy feelings that you’ve likely been carrying around for years. Our subconscious remembers each and every detail of our entire life. And, it’s constantly using that info it has collected to do it’s job of protecting us from perceived harm, like a bear chasing us in the wild back when we used to hunt for our survival. Or… getting up to do a speech—which can seem like an impeding bear attack when you’re not used to doing it (that’s called activated fight or flight mode).
In fact, our survival instinct is so sharp and efficient, anytime our conscious mind has an idea to do something new, like start our business, for example, our subconscious mind jumps in and not only calculates the risk, but then it determines whether or not to green-light the necessary habits, functions and internal resources we need to get it done. When the subconscious is not on board it’s starts flashing red lights to stop us, so we end up do things like procrastinating and making excuses not to act on the brilliant idea our conscious mind dreamt up.
Our subconscious also harbors around latent feelings until if finds what it thinks is an opportune time to bring it to the surface and resolve it. Have you ever witnessed someone who maybe had a bit too much to drink at a party and have an “inappropriate” outburst seemingly out of nowhere? Well, the subconscious simply thought— ‘Hey, this is my moment to resolve this issue! Let’s do this!’ The beautiful thing about the work that I do with my clients is the emotional freedom that they get as a result of taking charge of their subconscious inner workings. Reaching your goals and desires becomes so much easier once you’re finally able to let go of the ton of bricks weighing you down and re-write your subconscious programming.
